Pst Andrew – Sending Help From the Sanctuary

SENDING HELP FROM THE SANCTUARY:
THE CONTENTMENT FACTOR-2
Pst. Andrew Morgridge
ISAIAH 50:11
• What is so important about the concept, “CONTENTMENT, considering that it’s a word that appears in the Bible only once 1Tim. 6:6 and variation in 2Cor. 9:8. (all sufficiency) i.es.
• Thayer: A Mind contented with its lot
• Strong: Self satisfaction

• This is the meaning: It is the neurophysiological experience of satisfaction and being at ease in one’s situation, body, and or mind. Physiology has to do with the nervous system.

• It means you are cool-you are not worried or agitated about tomorrow. It means you are not ambitious. That’s a word that need to be addressed in the light of our topic – contentment. What’s ambition and how does God see it.

• (Jam. 2:5). From this scripture, three qualities of God’s children stands out clearly – those that have faith in God; those that are heirs of the Kingdom i.e.

Those that are living as strangers and pilgrims in expectation of the coming of the Lord (Cor. 3:1-4; Heb. 11:8-10; 1Pet. 2:11) and those who love the Lord i.e. those who obey Him (Jn. 14:23; Jn. 8:31-32).
Shall be as gods in Gen. 3:5 is the same as Ambition:

• This is a strong desire to do something or achieve a goal. It is normal in people, but should only have a place in the life of the Christian with the consent of God – the project must have been revealed to the Christian as the will of God for him.

• If this is not the will of God for him, failure and frustration normally follows as the Lord will set up stumbling blocks on his path to success (Ezek. 3:20).

• And soon the accompaniments of frustration – anger, enmity, envy, avarices, stealing, fornication , adultery, grumbling and murder will begin to be manifested in his life as satan continues to lead him into more problems.

• Secondly, the Christian, should be careful of ambition (even the one that is in the will of God) since the dividing line between ambition and idolatry is very thin,

and can be crossed by the Christian without even realizing that idolatry has replaced his ambition. This happens when desire becomes strong and is pursued with vigour and fervour to the neglect of God.

• It also happens when the Christian gets tired of waiting on the Lord for the manifestation of His promise, and he decides to go about achieving his ambition through his thought our plans and methods, and not God’s ways-making your own sparks.
CONTENDING WITH HIS NATURE – GOD
• We can’t take the land in Nu. 13 despite the how to take the land in vs. 22 made Him a liar – equating Him with the Devil (Jn. 8:40-44). That He’s not faithful contrary to Ps. 80, Lam. 3:22 etc.

• He holds His nature and integrity highly – that’s why He was so angry with Israel in the Quail and Manna episode – “Can He, “What’s this” “Can we trust Him – those who went out on the Sabbath… (Job. 37-39)
NEEDS VS WANTS
• Rich in faith (Jas. 2:5) means, explaining from PISTIS accepting the accepting the sovereignty of God. That means you must learn to ask and live according to His will.

• Faith means Pistis (1) Conviction of the truth of anything, belief; of a conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, generally with the included idea of trust and holy fervour born of faith and joined with it.

It is related:
(1a) to God with the conviction that God exists and is the creator and ruler of all things, the provider and bestower of eternal salvation though Christ.
• (Mt. 7:7: Mk. 11:24).

• Lust is a major characteristic of unbelievers which James describes as the (negative) desires that continually war in man to motivate him to fight and to kill so that they can be satisfied. But the irony of it is that physical want cannot be satisfied (Eccl. 6:7)

• How can I recognize a need and a want’? It is basically according to the dictates of your heart. 1t is from heart that all negative and positive things emanate from (Prov.16: 9).

• Where the foolishness of man perverts his way; and his heart frets against the Lord (Prov. 19:3), he is bound to ask to satisfy himself and in such cases he will never receive good (Prov. 17:20) (Heb. 9:22), (Gen. 3:21) (Isa. 59:1-16).
JOHN 5:5-6
• That is why when praying to receive; prayers should first be directed to ask for the will of God. When this has been determined to be positive, one can then begin to ask and claim by faith what God has freely given him.
JOHN 5:5-6
• All requests outside the revelation or confirmation of the Holy Spirit are negative. They emanate from the mind (flesh) and will ultimately lead to sin and problems (even death) when pursued through carnal means.
LET US CONSIDER KORAH:
• (1Chron. 13:15).
LUSTS EXPLAINED
• James 4:2
• It is possible for us not to ask, in which case, you will be living below the standard of the heritage that God has given us..
LUSTS EXPLAINED
• serious than not asking is making selfish demands or the requests that are contrary to God’s will for us. God is asking you to scrutinize your motives whenever you make a request.

• Every single scripture where lust is mentioned shows you that these things would lead you in the direction of unrighteousness, ungodliness and a lack of peace for your life. Lust means ‘wanting something very badly’. It is related to two things: greed and covetousness.

• Greed is ‘a selfish desire’ and covetousness is ‘to want something somebody else has so badly’. Many people wave lust off saying it is normal. There is nothing natural about lust! Lust will lead you in the way of hell. Lust expresses itself in desires for power, immoral pleasure, money or position.

• “He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea: And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations. So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;”

• Vs. 27-29 “Vs. 30: They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths, Vs. 31: The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.”

• Those of you who make requests without checking the motive behind your demand, but keep harassing God, should please learn from the examples of these people.
